 American history is intertwined with that of the Spanish conquistadors like Cortez, Magellan and Columbus. Searching for treasure and a shorter route to the East Indies, the Spanish crown ruled two thirds of today’s United States and most of the America’s as late as 1790. Had Napoleon not turned on his Spanish allies our World map could present a vastly different picture.
